Artist Statement | Amber Kappes My ongoing body of work consists of life size portraits of individuals that have allowed me to know them, those who I think highly of, disdain, or those that have affected my life in an ardent manner. In this day, there are so many aspects of art but I choose to focus my ability on the brilliance that lies within the individual. In painting them, I wish for my subject and for the universal population to feel this intensity that lies within me. I do not know where I am headed or where I will end up but this is where I am for now. I am in love with the shadows of the nose. |
