Artist Profile | Jason Kirkpatrick

Jason Kirkpatrick was born on the South Plains of West Texas raised by his father, who owned a pawnshop, and his mother, a professional seamstress. He studied theatre at McLennan Community College in Waco, Texas. Jason has acted and designed costumes for theatrical productions, performed original poetry at numerous venues and recently initiated a signature line of handbags and wallets for select distribution. He is currently employed at Ann Kelso Salon on South Congress.

Jason's work is confessional, exploring the entropic shape and form of relationships to reveal the transformation within. His pieces challenge the conventional understanding of an object's nature by redefining that object in terms of its dialogue with another. In this way the objects transcend form to illuminate patterns in the human condition. Each piece is a narrative, on life, death, love and sexuality. Through translating his personal histories into mixed media design, he communicates universal stories, rich and accessible.
