Artist Profile | Justin Preston I draw inspiration from the plot of earth that covers the southern United States. The lakes, rivers, woods, and sunny plains that I grew up with still intrigue and fascinate me. Having lived in large cities for several years now, I believe my paintings now show the struggle between open land and busy cities. Geometry meets geology. This is the style and substance I enjoy painting, but I also paint personal commissions, custom originals, and I enjoy streching my artistic versatility to meet any artistic requests or challenges. I grew up in a small East Texas town close to Louisiana. I began painting at an early age, but it came second to playing music. I went to college for a short while on an art scholarship before I ended up studying film and art at the University of Texas at Austin. Before graduating, I was an active artist and musician in the Austin community, holding several shows and exhibitions of both my musical and artistic creations. I am currently a practicing artist and art teacher. I can frequently be found camping, fishing, and painting throughout the East Texas landscape. |
